Notice of Regular Planning Commission Meeting/Public Hearing

October 6, 2022

PLEASE TAKE NOTE that the Village of Kalkaska Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at its regular meeting on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at the Kalkaska Commission on Aging located at 303S. Coral Street, Kalkaska, Michigan 49646 on proposed amendments to Chapter 152(Kalkaska Zoning Ordinance) of the Kalkaska Village Code. These amendments include a rewrite of Section6.5 (Signs); an amendment to Section 6.3.2 (Parking Requirements) to add requirements for Bicycle Parking; and placement of a moratorium on base density requirements in the Multiple Family Residential, Downtown Commercial and Regional Commercial Zones.

A copy of the entire text of the proposed zoning ordinance amendments may be reviewed at the Village Office located at 200 Hyde Street, Kalkaska, Michigan49646 during regular business hours of Monday-Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30p.m. Public comments, either oral or written, are welcome at the public hearing. Written comments may also be sent to the Village of Kalkaska Clerk at200 Hyde Street, Kalkaska, Michigan 49646 prior to the public hearing, and must be received by 4:00 p.m. on October 6, 2022. Planning Commission Vacancy

The Village of Kalkaska's Planning Commission is seeking a community-oriented individual to fill a vacant seat on the Commission. Responsibilities of Planning Commissioner include: development of the Village Master Plan and Recreation Plan; approval of site plan developments; recommendation of ordinances, amendments to existing ordinances and zoning changes; and general advisement to Council in regard to the proper physical development of the Village of Kalkaska. This vacancy must be filled by a qualified elector of the Village. Applications may be obtained on the Village Website under "Join Village Boards", and returned to the Village Office located at 200 Hyde Street.

Accepting Brownfield Applications

The Village of Kalkaska is currently accepting applications for an upcoming vacancy on their Brownfield Redevelopment Authority. The purpose of the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority is to facilitate the implementation of Brownfield plans; and to promote the revitalization, redevelopment and reuse of tax reverted, blighted, or functionally obsolete properties within the Village of Kalkaska. The Brownfield Redevelopment Authority typically meets on the first Thursday of the month at 9:00 a.m. This is a volunteer position. Applications may be obtained from the Village website at www.kalkaskavillage.com.
