Special Village Council Meeting

Please be advised of a Special Village Council meeting being held on Monday, July 23, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the Village Office located at 200 Hyde Street, Kalkaska, Michigan 49646 to consider a resolution to defend and indemnify Village Officials, and a resolution to authorize judgment bonds.
Brownfield Applications Accepted
The Village of Kalkaska is currently accepting applications for their Brownfield Redevelopment Authority board. The purpose of the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority is to facilitate the implementation of brownfield plans and to promote the revitalization, redevelopment and reuse of tax reverted, blighted, or functionally obsolete properties within the Village of Kalkaska. The board typically meets on the first Thursday of each month, and this is a volunteer position.

The Kalkaska Zoning Board of Appeals will be holding a PublicHearing on Monday, August 13, 2018 in the Council Chambers located at 200 HydeStreet, Kalkaska, Michigan to accept comments on a sign variance requestsubmitted by Data Spade for the property located at 786 S. Cedar Street. The applicantis proposing to add a double-sided, 40-square foot, internally lit sign to theexisting 99-square foot sign. Theproperty has already met its limit on signage, and is requesting additional forfour new operations on a sign that is currently at 100% (Section 151.23 B.1 andB. 2 of the Village Code of Ordinances). Public may appear at the public hearing in person or by counsel. Written comments may also be submitted, andmust be received by 4:00 p.m. in the Village Office on August 13, 2018. A copy of the application may be viewed at the Village Office during regular business hours. Should you have any questions, please feel free to stop in the Village Office or call 258-9191. Planning Commission Vacancy
The Village of Kalkaska's Planning Commission is seeking a community-oriented individual to fill a vacant seat on the Commission. Responsibilities of Planning Commissioner include: development of Village Master Plan and Recreation Plan; recommendation of ordinances, amendments to existing ordinances, zoning changes and site plan developments; and general advisement to Council in regard to the proper physical development of the Village of Kalkaska. This vacancy must be filled by a Village resident. Interested parties please inquire at the Village Office, located at 200 Hyde Street, or call 231-258-9191. Applications will be accepted until the vacancy has been filled.
